The Beginning of Practice

Most people come to Qigong with an idea of what they should feel.

   Relaxation.

   Energy.

   Stillness.

But when practice begins, it is often much simpler than that.

   The body feels unfamiliar.

   Movement may seem unclear.

   Attention moves quickly.

This is not a problem. It is the beginning.

Letting the Body Settle

Qigong does not begin with control.

It begins with allowing the body to organise itself.

Rather than trying to create a feeling,

practice starts by noticing what is already there.

   Standing.

   Breathing.

Small changes in weight and balance.

Over time,

these small changes begin to gather.

A Different Kind of Practice

This course is a short introduction.

It does not aim to explain everything.

It offers a way to begin practice clearly,

without adding unnecessary effort.

Each lesson is simple.

You will be asked to notice,

rather than to perform.

There is no need to get it right.

Only to return,

and begin again.

Return

There is something to notice here.

Something that becomes clearer as you practise.
